This April follow in the footsteps of Cornish miners
We are multi-award winning family-friendly heritage attraction and learning centre. All of the materials we use in our daily lives originated in the ground. If it's not grown it's mined! Geevor Tin Mine, on the rugged cliffs of the Tin Coast of West Cornwall, is a stunning place to discover the story of Cornish metal mining, one of Cornwall's great industries, at this incredible World Heritage Site.
Do something different! Put your hard hat on and go exploring at Geevor.
Astonishing history in an amazing landscape
Geevor is a real Cornish tin mine little changed from when the mine closed in 1990 with a real underground experience. Tin and copper have been mined in Cornwall since the Bronze Age. Metal mining was one of Cornwall's great industries. Explore the mine and and the hard rock museum at your own pace. Your visit into 18th century Wheal Mexico Mine at Geevor will give you a real insight into working underground. Our tour guides can talk to you about their time working as miners at Geevor. For children and families there are activities to enjoy including panning for gems (keep what you find!) and our quiz FREE with your entry ticket. We know it's a bit further to drive so all-day car parking is FREE for all of our visitors.

The Story of Geevor
The exact date when mining began in the area eventually operated by Geevor is unknown - but in the old workings in the Wheal Carne section there is a date of 1791 cut into the wall of the adit (drainage) level.
