Top Fitting Shop
The Top Fitting Shop was one of the engineering workshops for the mine.
Here mining equipment such as pneumatic rock drills were repaired and maintained. Rails and turntables enabled locos and wagons to be transferred to the Fitting Shop from the underground for major repair. Most minor repairs were carried out underground. The mine employed a whole range of craftsmen; engineers, fitters, mechanics , electricians - who were vital to the operation of the mine. The graffiti preserved on the walls is a reflection of the culture of those who worked at Geevor.
